Dear American media:
You’re trying too hard.
Love,
Dianny
It’s Saturday, July 27. Kamala Harris has only been the presumptive Democrat nominee for seven days, and already I need an airsick bag from all the fawning coverage.
It’s as if the American media is cramming the two years of Obama worship into a single week.
Seven days and already voters are drowning in the sticky sweet drool of the over-excited “unbiased” press. At this rate, the whole country is at risk of lapsing into a diabetic coma.
Outlets like the Washington Post and the New York Times transformed overnight into the political version of Tiger Beat after Grandpa Joe endorsed his witless Veep.
The New York Times:
Only a handful of presidents have had a keen interest in cooking. But no candidate this close to the White House has the kitchen skills of Vice President Kamala Harris.
As the daughter of a cancer researcher, Kamala Harris would bring a lifelong familiarity with science to the presidency, experts say
Good grief. That’s just one notch above “I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.”
What “expert” would say that?
“The daughter of a brain surgeon who never went to medical school could totally take care of that tumor for you, experts say.”
MSNBC’s resident “former Republican” Michael Steele even posted a fan fiction AI-generated image of Kamala as Captain America.
Since I just lost my job to artificial intelligence, that particular example of Kamala Fever is especially irritating.
And then there’s the “get-a-room” vibe I get from WaPo columnist Jennifer Rubin’s Kamala takes.
There’s this anecdote about a reporter who was on hand when the Beatles landed at an airport. Allegedly, her gloved hand brushed against the back of one of the Fab Four and she was instantly surrounded by a group of girls trying to kiss her hand. That is Jennifer Rubin’s level of devotion to Kamala. Sorry. That’s VP Harris to you, you disrespectful troglodytes!
Meanwhile, the media is running cover for Kamala’s failures in the same way they covered up Joe Biden’s dementia.
After spending MONTHS in 2021 describing Kamala as Biden’s “border czar,” the media is now telling us that Kamala was never the border czar and those mean Republicans are lying.
The bipartisan group that rated Kamala Harris the most liberal member of the US Senate in 2019 has now deleted any mention of it from its website.
Most shocking of all is the claim that Kamala never encouraged people to donate to the Minnesota fund to bail out BLM rioters arrested for the violence and arson that occurred during the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis.
THE DAMN TWEET IS STILL POSTED, YOU GORMLESS TWATS!
(I’m sure Team Kamala will delete it ASAP as soon as they wrap up the “One-Legged Lactose-Intolerate Lesbians for Kamala” Zoom meeting.)
I told you that it would be bad.
The media has less than 100 days to convince the American people that the vacuous politician they despise is the Second Coming of Obama, and the only way to do that is to oversaturate every medium with hagiographic, sickeningly sweet rubbish.
Human beings cannot survive on an empty-calorie diet. Sure, the sugar high provides an initial jolt of energy but it can’t stop the inevitable crash.
They’re pushing too hard and too far. A backlash is inevitable.
Kamala Harris is not a blank slate like Barack Obama.
She is a known entity with lower approval ratings than Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
Kamala is on record promoting far-left policies most voters oppose, like taxpayer-funded health insurance for illegal aliens, abortion on demand through all three trimesters, Defund the Police, transgender medical procedures for minors, and ending fossil fuels. She supports the very teachers’ unions that forced your children out of school for months during the pandemic and has praised the pro-Hamas protesters who shut down universities and attacked Jewish students.
She’s a radical left demagogue who shifts her positions based on public opinion and social media backlash.
No amount of slobbering news coverage and celebrity endorsements can unring all of those warning bells.
All it will take is one embarrassing word salad response in an off-the-cuff interview and Americans will forget all about her cooking skills and the cool TikTok memes.
Kamala will undermine the media’s careful framing by falling into the same trap that ensnared her in 2019.
The media similarly fawned over Kamala when she first jumped into the 2020 Democrat primary race and it took no time for that fawning to go to her head like the first cigarette of the day.
After the first primary debate, Kamala dismissed challenger Tulsi Gabbard in an interview, suggesting that the Hawaii congresswoman was disappointed that she was not a “top tier” candidate like Kamala.
Imagine being so high on the media’s supply that you dub yourself a “top tier” candidate.
The strutting peacock then walked into the second debate where Tulsi tore her to shreds over her record as a prosecutor and overnight, the so-called “top-tier” candidate found herself in the bargain bin.
It’ll happen again.
Kamala is an undisciplined candidate surrounded by a campaign team of star-struck twenty-somethings who think Twitter is real life. Fueled by arrogance and a sense of entitlement as big as all outdoors, Kamala will get high on the smoke the media is blowing up her ass and once again believe that she is a wildly popular unstoppable force.
All the Trump campaign has to do is stay on message and hammer the hell out of Kamala’s record. Keep reminding voters of every stupid, insane policy Kamala Harris supports and defends. Never let up.
Most of the excitement from Democrat voters right now is fueled by collective relief. They’re so damned happy to be rid of the decrepit old codger who was dragging them down, they would have rallied behind head lice if Nancy Pelosi declared it the Democrat nominee.
Eventually, the sugar high will wear off and Democrat voters will remember why Kamala never made it to the Iowa caucus.
As writer Jesse Singal noted on Twitter the other day:
Not saying this will happen but there is a version of history in which the Dems look back at the instant coalescing around Harris and just can't believe they could have ever been that foolish, given the alternatives they could have at least explored
Kamala Harris is a terrible choice. She is awkward, insecure, out of touch, and far too radical for most American voters. And when the sugar high wears off and Americans crash to earth, the Democrats are going to roll over and see the nominee they took home last night and boy, will they cringe.
