I began Trump’s second term with zero expectations. That isn’t a criticism of Trump. Expecting nothing is my default position as a general rule. That way, I am never disappointed.
Here we are a week into Trump 2.0, and already, I can barely keep up. This guy is an unstoppable force.
Even before Trump took the oath, the lady Democrats in the Senate transformed into the Fishwives Caucus — a band of angry screamers beside themselves with impotent rage.
Did you see the Twitter video of the shrieking harpies berating the now-Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during his confirmation hearing? If you haven’t, click the link and give it a watch. It’s both hilarious and horrifying in equal measure.
The first time I saw it, I thought of this scene from the original Star Trek series:
I don’t know who advised these harpies to behave like Stella Mudd during a Senate confirmation hearing but whoever it was should be fired.
Kirsten Gillibrand probably woke up that morning brimming with eager excitement, believing her planned performance in Hegseth’s confirmation hearing would be the making of her. Yes sir. This public display of hysterics would kick-start her national profile and put her on the map. Look out world, Gillibrand is back and she’s mad as hell!
Kirsten probably traveled to Capitol Hill that morning playing the scene out in her head, rehearsing each shriek and point of her finger — and even when to turn on the waterworks. Clueless theater kid that she is, it never occurred to Kirsten that her carefully staged performance would blow up in her face like a trick cigar and she would end her work day as the star of a viral social media meme.
Are they members of the World’s Most Deliberative Body or are they auditioning for a spot on The View?
I love it when Democrats make idiots of themselves.
Then on January 20, Trump wasted no time getting to work. Before the day was out, the media and the Democrats had so many things to rage about, they didn’t know where to begin.
The thing that pushed them over the edge was Trump’s pardon of every person charged in the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
You’ll forgive me if I don’t expend an ounce of energy getting angry over those pardons. The Democrats and the media only have themselves to blame for these pardons.
On January 7, 2021, I wrote a scathing column about that violent riot. I was disgusted by what I watched. We’re not supposed to be the ones who act like animals. That’s what leftists do. It was a shameful and disgusting display.
I warned in my column that the Democrats and the media would squeeze every ounce of advantage they could out of that riot. And they did, didn’t they? An ugly mob scene transformed overnight into a “violent insurrection to overthrow our democracy.” The House quickly impeached Donald Trump for a second time and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi established a highly partisan select committee to “investigate” the riot. Meanwhile, the FBI launched a nationwide manhunt to arrest and try every person who got caught up in the mob — a manhunt that was still underway four years later.
But like everything else the Democrats and the media do, they pushed too hard and too far.
The January 6 committee hearings were Stalinesque show trials — a televised miniseries masquerading as a congressional inquiry. The committee even hired a big-time television producer to oversee the broadcast to ensure the slick, made-for-TV kangaroo court delivered big ratings.
By the time the televised hearings aired, most Americans didn’t give a toss about the January 6 riot anymore. After more than a year of having it rammed down our throats, even those of us who were sincerely disgusted and horrified by the violent mob had better things to do than to watch Liz Cheney’s star turn.
All the Democrats had to do was take the win and move on. But that’s not the Democrat way. They always push too hard and too far. By overplaying their hand, the Democrats snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and Americans, even those furious with the riot, were so indifferent that they were even willing to elect Donald Trump a second time.
Were there defendants who deserved to be prosecuted? Absolutely. Some of the rioters pounded the crap out of the police. Others smashed windows and broke down doors to gain entry to the Capitol.
I’m one of those people who firmly believes that if you assault police and storm a building with an angry mob, you should be arrested, charged, and tried in a court of law. But when it became clear that the Democrats and the Biden Justice Department were using these arrests to advance a false narrative about Trump staging an “insurrection” to “overthrow our democracy,” I had no stomach for it anymore.
When people whose only crime was “parading” got dragged back to Washington and thrown into pre-trial detention for months on end, sane people started wondering if maybe this was overkill.
Those rioters weren’t part of a coup. They were useful idiots. They were exploited by the gormless twats who sold them a bill of goods about Mike Pence stopping the certification. Then they were exploited by the Biden Justice Department, the media, and the Democrats in Congress to advance the bullshit “Insurrection” narrative. To add insult to injury, once arrested and jailed, they got exploited again, this time by Republican lawmakers like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz, who staged photo ops outside of the DC jail so they could post videos on Twitter to boost their public profile.
In short, the January 6 riot was shameful and disgusting, but the Democrat Party’s exploitation of the rioters to advance a phony narrative to destroy Donald Trump was equally shameful and disgusting.
When Donald Trump first vowed on the campaign trail to pardon these guys, I didn’t care. Let him pardon them. They’d been exploited enough. His unwillingness to accept the results of the election set off the chain of events that ensnared these people and ruined their lives. Pardoning them is the least he could do to make it right.
The Democrats aren’t going to let go of their phony narrative anytime soon. They’ll keep screeching about the non-existent cops who “died” and the “coup plotters” and “insurrectionists.” Like an American tourist who thinks Europeans can understand his English if he just talks louder, the Democrats think that Americans will finally believe their phony “insurrection” narrative if they continue to shout about it.
Nobody cares, especially when Donald Trump is already delivering on his central campaign promise to deport illegal aliens.
This is what delighted me about Trump’s first week in office. ICE started rounding up illegals the moment the president was sworn in.
The Trump transition team must have had the deportation plan all mapped out and ready to roll before the Inauguration, and boy, is it a sight to behold.
On Sunday, the communist president of Colombia (not to be confused with the socialist president of Columbia University) refused to accept US flights of Colombian deportees. Rather than engage in the strategic handwringing perfected by the Biden administration, President Trump announced that he would slap sanctions and tariffs on Colombia if the government refused to accept the flights.
The Democrats wasted no time sending out talking points to counter Trump’s threat, with social media “influencers” crying about the increased cost of Colombian coffee and flowers (right before Valentine’s Day!!!).
In the time it took for the Democrat “influencers” to start transmitting this absurd talking point, Colombia reversed course to allow the flights and even offered to send the presidential plane to pick up and return the deportees.
It was beautiful!
Even after the Colombian government caved, the “influencers” were still on Twitter bitching about coffee and Valentine’s flowers. I imagine they will continue bitching about coffee and flowers until someone transmits a new set of talking points for them to bitch about.
That brings me to my final point about Trump’s first week in office.
Is it just me or do you get the impression that the ResistanceLOL aren’t up to the job this time around? It seems as if they’re phoning it in.
I mean, come on! “You can’t punish Colombia for refusing deportees! We get coffee and flowers from them! Are you willing to pay more for coffee and flowers — this close to Valentine’s Day?!”
Let me think. Yes, I am willing to pay a few bucks more for Colombian coffee and flowers in exchange for taxpayers saving the billions of dollars a year we pay on food, housing, education, and healthcare for people who shouldn’t be here in the first place. Your terms are acceptable.
The dopey ResistanceLOL tactics that gained traction in 2017 aren’t going to work today, and the Democrats and the media have nobody but themselves to blame for that.
They convinced voters to elect Joe Biden in 2020 on the promise that he would return some normalcy and sanity to the country. Instead, Biden and his band of Marxist weirdos drove up consumer prices and inflation and unleashed radical left-wing policies, including forcing DEI initiatives on every part of the government and flinging open our borders to allow millions of illegals to flood in.
These gormless knobs in the ResistanceLOL spent most of last week clutching their pearls and accusing Elon Musk of being a Nazi. They have learned nothing.
Meanwhile, as they kvetched and postured over Elon’s awkward hand gesture, Team Trump was rounding up rapists, murderers, terrorists, and other sundry illegal criminals and flying them the hell out of the country — just as he promised to do during the campaign.
This is the reason Donald Trump’s approval rating is over 50%.
Will Trump do things I don’t like? I’m sure he will. Nobody’s perfect. For example, I’m not keen on his nomination of Robert Kennedy Jr. for HHS Secretary — mostly because I am wary of a liberal pro-abortion Democrat who thinks the NRA is a terrorist group and climate change “deniers” should be imprisoned. What can I say? I’m quirky that way. I prefer a Health Secretary who isn’t going to behave like a shrill, bossy female Democrat governor.
Besides, if I have to listen to RFK Jr. speak for the next four years, I’ll poke my ears out with an ice pick. As my Twitter pal Cuffy likes to say, RFK “sounds like Kate Hepburn riding a paint can shaker in an earthquake.”
Moving on.
In the first week of his second term as president, Donald Trump also met with hurricane victims in North Carolina and wildfire victims in Los Angeles. As a bonus, he also made a fool of LA’s incompetent mayor Karen Bass, which admittedly, isn’t that difficult to do, especially since she usually does a bang-up job making a fool of herself.
Most Americans will put up with Trump’s many faults if the guy continues to deliver on the policies they voted for. That’s what the ResistanceLOL doesn’t understand. They’ll keep nipping at Trump’s heels like frustrated poodles.
Given the Democrats’ reaction to Trump’s first week, I suspect that they opted for the “Well I never!” resistance strategy.
These guys spent the past week well-I-nevering over the price of groceries — something they went to great lengths to ignore for the past four years — demanding to know why Trump didn’t lower the price of eggs in the first five days of his presidency. Since the ResistanceLOL is so disorganized this time around, they don’t realize that this lazy talking point will backfire on them. The egg prices are high because poultry farms had to cull their chickens due to bird flu. Once that passes, the price of eggs will quickly drop, and thanks to the ResistanceLOL, Trump will get to claim credit for it.
Democrats forget how quickly the first Trump administration worked to undo the economic damage caused by the pandemic shutdown. The post-pandemic recovery was already well on its way when Joe Biden took office thanks to the Trump administration. But then Biden insisted on forcing through another massive COVID spending bill and the Trump recovery ground to a halt, forcing prices to go up and sending inflation through the roof.
If the Democrats insist on making inflation and consumer prices the hill they plan to die on, they are in for a surprise. Then again, Democrats have never understood how an economy works, which is probably one of the reasons voters rejected them last November.
Anyroad. I’ve written enough.
Welcome back, President Trump!
By the way, loved Melania’s hat!
I've seen so very much moaning and groaning from libs in the past week, and I've gotta say, it makes me smile. From "Elan is a Nazi" the femi-bishop at the National Prayer Service, it's been quite a week. And speaking the bishop-ette.......a post about her in a certain group for a specific Christian denomination certainly exposed the liberals hiding amongst the theologically conservative members. The were posts referring to Donald Trump as "Orange Man", our "Orange Messiah", and calling Trump voters "members of a cult".
I also loved Melania's hat, and her whole outfit. I also enjoy the resulting memes, the ones that serve notice that the men who rummaged through her underwear during the raid on Maralago will pay for what they did. It was good to see how Barron has matured. The look he gave Biden at the Inauguration was priceless. He has learned a lot from his mother about keeping emotions in check and planning for the future. It will be very interesting to see what happens should he decide to go into politics.
