The Kamala campaign’s “vibes” sure have taken a dark turn lately, haven’t they?
We may not know how long it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop, but we know it takes only three months to go from “Joy” to “Anguish.”
Team Kamala’s closing argument to voters is: “Trump is Hitler,” “Men are Evil,” and “Women Can’t Think for Themselves.”
Plenty of people have focused on the first two messaging failures. I want to focus on the third.
Yesterday, former First Shrew Michelle Obama appeared at a Michigan campaign event for Kamala, where she accused Americans of racism and misogyny for not being ready for a brown-skinned female president.
Michelle also suggested that American women lack the courage to stand up to the angry men in their lives and defiantly vote for Kamala. She insisted, “Our lives are worth more than their anger and disappointment.”
The assumption behind this, while insulting, isn’t new in Democrat presidential campaigns.
Democrats appear to believe that women, especially married women, are incapable of independent thought. We’re just somnambulant drones who require the heavy hand of a man to guide us through each day. We live in fear of our husbands, fathers, or boyfriends and can do nothing without first gaining their approval. We blindly vote the way men instruct us to avoid incurring their wrath.
These people need to stop watching “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
Then again, Hillary did the same thing in 2016. Following her defeat, Hillary insisted that she lost because James Comey reopened the investigation into her emails, and those evil men used Comey’s actions as a pretense to convince their wives and girlfriends not to vote for her because she was probably going to prison.
Such a champion of women is Hillary Clinton.
Michelle, Hillary, and every other Democrat genuinely believe that women who don’t embrace the Democrat Party must be mind-numbed 1950s-style housewives who are completely subservient to their husbands. To them, it is the only reasonable explanation for why women might not vote for their candidate.
Team Kamala’s “Joy” has dried up faster than spit on a summer sidewalk, and now they’re lecturing and berating you in the most condescending ways imaginable.
Between this and campaign surrogates like Tim Walz’s wife talking to voters as if we’re children, is it any surprise that Kamala Fever sputtered out like a wet fart?
Meanwhile, Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff are leading the campaign’s male outreach by reminding men that only Kamala will allow the women in their lives to kill their unborn children from conception to birth.
It’s as if they want to lose.
The “Joy” label was always a laughable lie, so it isn’t a galloping shock that Team Kamala has discarded it like a used Kleenex to embrace fearmongering, condescension, and voter shaming.
During her lecturing campaign speech in Michigan, Michelle Obama also expressed surprise that Kamala wasn’t running away with this. Think of it as the 2024 version of “Why aren’t I 50 points ahead?!” She concluded that the problem isn’t that Kamala Harris is a cackling, vacuous moron with the political instincts of a mollusk. No. The problem must be the American people.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is campaigning with a spring in his step and a song in his heart. His Friday interview with podcaster Joe Rogan has already racked up more than 26 million views on YouTube.
Trump’s rallies continue to draw large crowds, even without big-name draws like movie stars and pop singers. He doesn’t need them. Trump is the headliner at Trump rallies, whereas Kamala has to enlist Beyonce or Lizzo to headline her events while she is relegated to a supporting role.
Hillary did the same thing in the final days of 2016. Just days before the election, she appeared at a “hip hop rally” featuring Beyonce and Jay-Z. Before that, she glommed onto a concert in Miami featuring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
The star power didn’t help Hillary Clinton, and I doubt it will move the needle for Kamala, especially when Beyonce fans turn up in Houston to see her perform at Kamala’s rally, only to discover too late that she wasn’t going to sing a note.
The shrill lectures, the incendiary speeches outside of the Vice Presidential Residence, and all the star-fucking in the world can’t mask the stench of flop sweat emanating from the Kamala campaign.
It’s one thing to campaign like you’re the underdog. It’s quite another to telegraph to the world that you think you’re losing.
And Team Kamala thinks it’s losing. It oozes from every pore of the campaign.
It’s only October 27, and the media is already conducting a post-mortem on the Kamala campaign, desperately trying to noodle out what went wrong. Well, not everyone in the media. Many so-called journalists are too busy anger-tweeting over the Washington Post not endorsing Kamala to worry about why her campaign is in freefall.
Last week, I said I didn’t know how this race would shake out. The polls are so maddeningly close that it’s impossible to draw any conclusions. At the same time, only one candidate is fired up and excited. The other is angry, resentful, and frantically looking for someone to blame.
Even the last-minute anonymously sourced smears trotted out last week rolled off of Trump like he’d been Scotch-Guarded. Is it any wonder Team Kamala is in freefall?
Americans largely vote in their best interest. A strong, growing economy and an end to unfettered illegal immigration matter far more to voters than Brat Summers, celebrity endorsements, and sputtering, overused comparisons to Hitler.
Unfortunately for the Democrats, Kamala hasn’t figured that out.
Women for Kamala seem to be coming out with pretty hateful rhetoric too.... sad... Trump is going to take away all women's rights - even one saying that we wouldn't be able to vote next time if he wins. Do they really believe this or are they just the demented facebookers. I did one reply on the voting rights....I didn't like saying it but couldn't help myself - "are you that stupid?".... I forgave myself ... the Irish came out in me!!!!
I just heard an interview with Victor Davis Hanson and the person doing the interview stated after all the discussion he was going to vote for Kamala.... and I was wondering did he not hear a word Victor said. He is so level headed, so articulate, so knowledgeable, but none of that dissuaded this guy.
People just don't understand what socialism is - that we are already there! It will be worse.
I think the thing I see as the worst and I saw it kick of with Hillary, then Obama took it to an all new level, was the hatred, for people, us deplorables, for this country and all we stand for.
I am ready for the kind, loving, not so corrupt in your face world to return, but I think that's a daydream!
