Blair House basement prepared for incoming President-elect
As is custom, Joe Biden will stay at Blair House the day before the Inauguration. And the White House staff wants to make him feel at home.
From the Wildly Inaccurate Dianny News Service: In preparation for the upcoming inauguration of Joe Biden, the White House staff is quickly preparing the basement of Blair House to accommodate the incoming President-elect.
“It is customary for the White House to invite the incoming President to stay in Blair House the night before the inauguration,” a White House spokesman explained. “And we are doing our best to make Mr. Biden feel right at home.”
Staffers have spent the week hauling down furniture into the basement of Blair House – including a queen size bed, a six-drawer dresser, beanbag chair and a foosball table.
“Last week was spent clearing the cobwebs, mouse droppings, and water-damaged boxes,” the spokesman said. “There’s a funky smell we can’t get rid of. But we’re hoping Mr. Biden won’t object since he’s only staying one night.”
When asked if the basement accommodations are for both Joe and his wife, the spokesman perked up with excitement.
“Oh, not at all! We have a special room prepared for Doctor Biden,” said the spokesman. “We’ve converted one of the bedrooms into a surgical suite – complete with operating table, functioning x-ray machine and a portable defibrillator. We think she’ll appreciate all the work we've done!”
Meanwhile, at the White House itself, staffers have been preparing the basement bunker just in time for the newly inaugurated Biden to move in.
The upstairs residence of the White House, typically reserved for the President and his family, will be made ready for Kamala Harris and her husband.
“No sense making us go through this twice in less than a year,” explained the spokesman.
The Bidens are expected to arrive in Washington on Tuesday, January 19th. The basement preparations at Blair House will be completed in plenty of time for their arrival.
